Voices Unveiled: Featuring Maliheh Moradi and Mina Deris

Voices Unveiled

Join us at Kings Place on Friday, July 11, 2025, for Voices Unveiled, a powerful three-part musical work performed in Farsi and Arabic.

Blending Iranian traditional music, southern folk, and fusion elements, the composition tells the true stories of two refugee women who died while escaping persecution, exploring themes of loss, survival, and hope.

The first part follows a woman who fled Iran after being imprisoned for burning her headscarf during protests, only to be killed in Eastern Europe. The second centers on a woman escaping a tribal blood ritual, whose journey ends in tragedy after a fatal miscommunication at a border.

A prelude imagines the two women meeting beyond life, unaware of their deaths. The final section offers a sense of rebirth as their voices merge in a transcendent expression of love, loss, and resilience.
